Regarded as one of the most enchanting paradises in the eastern Caribbean, the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis consists of two islands: St. Kitts and Nevis. St. Kitts and Nevis is a member of the Commonwealth, with its capital city, Basseterre, located on the larger island of Saint Kitts. The smaller island of Nevis lies approximately 3 km southeast of Saint Kitts, separated by a shallow channel known as “The Narrows.” The Head of State is the Queen of England, and the country’s democratic governance follows the British parliamentary system. Additionally, the Federation is a member of the United Nations, the British Commonwealth, the Organization of American States, and CARICOM.
